Ideas for Healthy School Lunches

When you’re packing your kids’ lunches every day, it can get a little bit tedious. In fact, you can start to run out of ideas, especially if the lunches tend to come back uneaten. Don’t worry! We’ve got some great ideas for easy and healthy school lunches your kids will actually eat. (Fingers crossed, anyway.)

Turkey Ranch Wraps: Just wrap deli turkey, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and ranch dressing in a tortilla and roll it up! If you’re feeling fancy, go ahead and cut it into pinwheels and see how the kids gobble them up.

Fruited Turkey Wraps: These may sound too similar, but if your child prefers sweet over savory, this is the way to go. Mandarin oranges and craisins make this taste like a treat, but it’s loaded with nutrition.

Strawberry Pasta Salad: Pasta salad is a fun little twist on a school lunch, and when it’s bow tie pasta and strawberries, it’s sure to be a hit. Consider that it also has crystallized ginger and mint, and you may want to keep it for yourself instead of packing it in the lunch box!

Berry Turkey Sandwich: This sandwich is a little bit out of the ordinary, with Swiss cheese, sliced strawberries and nutty cream cheese to complement the turkey. Try it on whole wheat, sunflower seed or oatmeal bread for a hearty lunch.

Peanut Butter Granola Pinwheels: These are so tasty the kids will probably clamor to have them as an afternoon snack. They’re hearty enough, though, to make a sustaining lunch.

Lunch Box Chicken Wrap: If you’ve got leftover chicken, this is the perfect way to use it. These wraps are so fun, with thin strips of colorful veggies for visual appeal that’s also nutritious.

Thai Lettuce Wraps: Flavorful and fresh tasting, this lunch ditches the bread in favor of lettuce. Hint: If you don’t have leftover chicken you can use canned chicken.

Fruity Peanut Butter Pitas: Fruity and delicious, these are also nutritious, with apples, bananas, peanut butter and healthful spices.

Lunchbox Pizzas: What’s better than a pizza that fits right into a sandwich bag for easy lunch packing? Only knowing how easy this lunch is to make.

Chicken Salad Party Sandwiches: With dried cranberries, curry powder and pecans, this chicken salad is a winner. Made into sliders on dinner rolls, it’s a fun lunchbox treat.

Hummus and Veggie Wrap Up: You can prepare this to be vegan or just vegetarian, but no matter how you make it, it’s sure to become a lunchtime favorite.

Tropical Beef Wrap: Cream cheese, mango and beef? Yes, please! It’s so flavorful your kiddos might not even notice they’re eating spinach.
