For more than 40 years, Bel Air Athletic Club has played an important role in the lives of Bel Air-area residents, businesses and students.

During this time, members and teammates have created a vibrant group that connects for all types of fitness as well as countless social events both inside the club and around town. The cliché “work hard, play hard” definitely describes the healthy community you’ve helped develop. That’s what makes this announcement so difficult. On Thursday, February 16, 2023, Bel Air Athletic Club will permanently close its doors.

Understandably, you might have questions regarding your membership. For your convenience, we’re striving to answer most of them below.

Club Membership

Q: What will happen to my membership?

A: Members who do not take any further action (see below if you would like to cancel your membership as of January 31, 2023) at this time will be billed for 50% of February monthly dues and have access to the club until it closes on Thursday, February 16, 2023. As of February 17, 2023 all memberships will be cancelled. There will be no further billing unless there is need to collect for past due amounts or services.

Q: I no longer want to utilize the club. How do I cancel my membership?

A: We’re sorry we will not be able to serve your needs in our last few weeks. Your membership will cancel automatically on February 16.

Membership Dues

Q: What will I be billed for in early February (during your normal billing cycle)?

A: Members who do not tell us that they want to cancel early will be charged 50% of their regular monthly dues and have access to the club until February 16, 2023. In addition, you will be charged for any past due charges, or any charges for services, products or programs that were used in January or in the past.

* Please note, if you club charged any products or services in the month of January or have a past due balance, those charges will still be collected during the February draft.

Unused Products or Services

Q: How do I request a refund for my unused packages, programs or services?

A: We are happy to help with this. Please fill in the following form and we will be in touch with the balance on your account and any details about this information that you may need. We commit to having your package, program or service refunded by no later than March 15, 2023 via the form of payment you used in the original transaction. Q: I rent a locker at the club. When do I need to make sure my belongings have been removed?

A: Please make sure to remove/collect your belongings no later than Friday, February 10, 2023. After this time, all items still in lockers will be donated to a local charity. Please make sure to let us know if there is any issue with this timing so your items are not donated if you wish to keep them.

Purchase of Additional Services or Equipment

Q: I want to purchase a few more sessions with my service provider.

A: Fantastic! Our teammates are happy to serve you. We will not be allowing club charges after January 31, 2023 so please make sure to have a credit card available to be charged prior to the service.

Q: Is it possible to purchase equipment from the club?

A: We are unable to sell any of the club equipment to members or associates.


Q: Is there a way I can contribute to the associates final pay?

A: We are unable to collect money from members to contribute towards associates pay. If your chosen associate is a service provider, our recommendation would be to take part in the sessions you have already purchased. This allows the associate to get paid for the service provided. Please make sure you sign for each of the services to ensure their compensation.
